Western Pyrenees
The region Navarra along the Atlantic is a quiet, region of modest beauty, full of surprises and charms. Navarra is a very recommendable destination for a holiday close to nature, for hikers and cyclists, for friends of rich and exquisite meals and good wines.

The western and northern part is inhabited by Basques, whose language and lived traditions can be seen and felt everywhere. The rolling hills are more gentle and greener here and the Atlantic influence is greater than in the eastern part where the hills of the Pyrenees slowly rise.

The pilgrim path "The Way of St. James" (Camino de Santiago) leads through Navarra and many castles and cloisters are witness to a moved history. You can also visit Pamplona, San Sebastian and Bilbao from our small hotels.

Central Pyrenees National park Ordesa in Aragon

In 1918 the national park of Ordesa was founded in the central Pyrenees und was greatly extended in 1982. Today it includes the Monte Perdido massif and, together with the neighbouring French Pyrenees National Park, forms an impressive nature reserve.

The altitude ranges from 1,000 to 3,350 m (3280 10990 ft.). This part of the central Pyrenees is especially beautiful and varied, with its magnificent landscapes, the diversity of water courses, cascades and water falls, the extremely rich fauna and flora and the great hiking possibilities for all conditions.

Climate

In the west (Navarra) the Atlantic climate is very mild, whereas the central and highest part of the Pyrenees have a very strong alpine climate (similar to that of the Dolomites). The further east you go the stronger the Mediterranean influence becomes noticeable, and the hills drop towards the Mediterranean.
